Back from injury
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 7:44 PM
Hobbs is back in action after recovering from a hand injury, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hobbs injured his hand during Las Vegas' Week 18 loss to Kansas City but now appears to be healthy once again. The 23-year-old has been lining up at nickelback during OTAs and will likely serve as a starter during the 2023 season.
Jarrett Stidham
Jarrett Stidham Traded to Las Vegas
Thu, May 12, 2022, 8:43 AM
The Patriots are trading Stidham and a 2023 seventh-round pick to the Raiders in exchange for a 2023 sixth-round pick, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Stidham, a 2019 fourth-round pick, found himself the odd man out of New England's quarterback room, which includes rookie fourth-rounder Bailey Zappe and veteran Brian Hoyer as options behind Mac Jones. The move reunites Stidham with coach Josh McDaniels, and sets him up to compete with Nick Mullens and Garrett Gilbert for the top backup spot behind Derek Carr.
Keelan Cole
Keelan Cole Joining Las Vegas
Wed, May 11, 2022, 6:48 PM
Cole agreed to a one-year contract with the Raiders on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The 29-year-old was with the Jets on a one-year deal in 2021 and caught 34 of 51 targets for 449 yards and one touchdown in 15 games. He'll battle Bryan Edwards and Demarcus Robinson for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart behind Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow.
Inks deal with Raiders
Mon, May 9, 2022, 4:17 PM
Young signed a contract with the Raiders on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Young split time between the Rams and Broncos last year due to a midseason trade that sent him from Los Angeles to Denver for a 2024 sixth-round selection. He played in a total of 13 games, recording 46 tackles (27 solo), two sacks and a pass defensed, with a forced fumble and recovery. He'll likely fill a rotational role in the the Raiders' linebacker unit. In a corresponding move, the team cut Justin March-Lillard.
Kenyan Drake
Kenyan Drake Recovering well from ankle injury
Fri, May 6, 2022, 2:23 PM
Drake is bouncing back well from the broken ankle he suffered last year, Tashan Reed and Vic Tafurof The Athletic report.
Analysis: Drake appeared in 12 games with the Raiders last season prior to undergoing season-ending surgery on his broken right ankle. While it remains to be seen if he'll have any initial limitations in practice, barring any setbacks, the 28-year-old should be well past the injury ahead of Week 1. This coming season, Drake will reprise his complementary role in Las Vegas' backfield, a context that gives him a degree of PPR utility while working behind top early-down back Josh Jacobs. Also in the mix for running back touches are the versatile Brandon Bolden and 2022 fourth-rounder Zamir White. White's role out of the gate figures to hinge on his ability to improve as a receiver and display aptitude as a blocker, but for now we'd expect that Drake's experience and ability as a receiver should give him a place in the team's offense under new coach Josh McDaniels.
Undergoing surgery
Tue, May 3, 2022, 6:37 PM
Mullen (undisclosed) is expected to undergo minor surgery, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Mullen played in five games last season, missing the majority of the year with a toe injury. After spending nine weeks on IR, Mullen attempted to return in Week 14 against the Chiefs, but he aggravated the injury and was shut down for the rest of the season. With little known about the injury or the surgery that is taking place, a recovery time for Mullen is not yet known.
Scooped by Las Vegas

The Raiders selected Brown in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 250th overall.
Analysis: Brown becomes the second running back selected by the Raiders less than 24 hours after declining Josh Jacobs' fifth-year option, joining Zamir White. After starting out at Duke, Brown transferred to UCLA where he appeared in 17 games over two seasons. He was largely overtaken by Zach Charbonnet in 2021 but Brown still produced 615 yards and seven touchdowns at a 6.0 YPC clip. Brown wasn't heavily used as a pass-catcher but was efficient when targeted, snaring 18 of 19 targets for 129 yards in 2021. He ran a 4.66 in the 40-yard dash at his pro day, so athleticism is below baseline for an NFL running back and it will be an uphill battle to crack the roster despite being drafted.
Picked up by Vegas
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 5:06 PM
The Raiders selected Munford in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 238th overall.
Analysis: Munford was a stalwart on the Ohio State offensive line for the last four seasons but a shaky combine sent his stock sliding. The 6-foot-5, 328-pounder made 34 starts at left tackle but kick inside to guard as a senior while Nicholas Petit-Frere took over the blindside. Munford has the size and reach to play tackle but the lack of athleticism could either force him inside to guard or keep him as a reserve tackle.
Las Vegas picks in fifth round
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 2:31 PM
The Raiders selected Butler in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 175th overall.
Analysis: Butler (6-foot-4, 297 pounds) is a bit light by defensive tackle standards, but his strong combine showing implies the Tennessee product can add mass if necessary and remain a viable athlete on the defensive line. His 5.0-second 40, 32-inch vertical and 112-inch broad jump conventionally project well for nickel and dime defensive tackle reps, so Butler should give the Raiders rotational snaps even if he doesn't develop into a starter.
Heading to Sin City
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 12:13 PM
The Raiders selected Farrell in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 126th overall.
Analysis: Las Vegas has been active in the fourth with its trades and moved up with Minnesota to secure the big defensive tackle out of LSU. Farrell is a space eater in the middle who played in a 4-3 defense for the Tigers, so he is a natural fit in the Las Vegas scheme. He checks in at 6-foot-4 and 330 pounds. Athleticism isn't his calling card, but in Las Vegas he just needs to occupy space in the middle of the line and stop the run.
Lands in Vegas
Sat, Apr 30, 2022, 12:03 PM
The Raiders selected White in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 122nd overall.
Analysis: This is an interesting pick in light of the Raiders declining to pick up Josh Jacobs' fifth-year option Friday. White was a highly regarded recruit coming out of high school but two ACL tears -- one in high school and one as a freshman at Georgia -- kept him out until 2019. He was lightly used in 2019 before taking on more of a lead role in his final two seasons, when he combined for 304 carries, 1,635 yards and 22 rushing touchdowns. White is a physical, north-south runner at 6-foot and 214 pounds who is unlikely to have much of an impact as a pass catcher. Considering the injury history, White ran surprisingly well at the combine with a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. He can challenge for early down work early in his Raiders career but is not a major threat to Jacobs' workload just yet.
Vegas picks up in third round
Fri, Apr 29, 2022, 9:54 PM
The Raiders selected Parham in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 90th overall.
Analysis: This is a nice pick for the Raiders. Their offensive line regressed in 2021, but a player like Parham might help right the ship. He was a standout starter for Memphis, and at 6-foot-3, 311 pounds, he possesses rare athleticism (4.93-second 40).
Vegas declines fifth-year option
Fri, Apr 29, 2022, 12:53 PM
The Raiders declined Abram's (shoulder) fifth-year option for 2023 on Friday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Abram started 14 games during the 2021 season and registered a career-high 116 tackles, five tackles for loss, four pass deflections and one interception. However, the 2019 first-round pick underwent season-ending surgery after dislocating his shoulder against the Browns in Week 15. He's expected to be healthy by the start of the regular season, but he'll be playing for a new contract during the 2022 campaign.
Fifth-year option declined
Fri, Apr 29, 2022, 12:45 PM
The Raiders declined Ferrell's fifth-year option for 2023 on Friday, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Ferrell was the No. 4 overall pick by the Raiders in 2019 and started 26 games over his first two seasons. However, he operated as a reserve in each of his 16 appearances during the 2021 campaign and finished with career lows in tackles (14) and sacks (1.5). Las Vegas also opted to decline fifth-year options for Josh Jacobs and Johnathan Abram, who were both also selected in the first round of 2019 Draft, and Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler addressed the situation by saying, "we look forward to working with all three players and we will evaluate each situation individually moving forward."
Josh Jacobs
Josh Jacobs Fifth-year option declined
Fri, Apr 29, 2022, 12:21 PM
The Raiders have elected to not pick up Jacobs' fifth-year contract option, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The same applies to fellow 2019 first-rounders Clelin Ferrell and Johnathan Abram, though GM Dave Ziegler relayed that the team looks "forward to working with all three players and (will) evaluate each situation individually moving forward." With that, Jacobs remains under contract with Las Vegas this coming season, and it's still possible the Raiders will look to keep the 24-year-old around beyond 2022, especially if produces well in the final year of his rookie deal. In 15 games last year, Jacobs carried 217 times for 872 yards and nine TDs, while adding 54 catches (on 64 targets) for 348 yards. He's slated to reprise his lead role in the team's backfield this coming season, with Kenyan Drake set to work in a complementary role and Brandon Bolden and Ameer Abdullah on hand in reserve.
Derek Carr
Derek Carr Secures three-year extension
Wed, Apr 13, 2022, 9:40 AM
Carr agreed Wednesday with the Raiders on a three-year, $121.5 million contract extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The Raiders now have both Carr and new top wideout Davante Adams locked in for the foreseeable future. Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Carr's extension also includes a no-trade clause. The deal gives Las Vegas some long-term stability on offense, which features an aerial attack anchored by Carr and top targets Adams and Darren Waller, who is under contract through 2023. The team's willingness to both commit to Carr and build around him could provide fantasy managers -- especially those in multi-QB formats -- with more optimism about the 31-year-old signal-caller's outlook.
Nick Bowers
Nick Bowers Signs new contract
Mon, Apr 11, 2022, 7:40 PM
Bowers signed a one-year contract with the Raiders on Monday.
Analysis: Bowers joined the Raiders in 2020 as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State. After spending 2020 on the practice squad, he made his NFL debut in 2021 in Week 5 against the Bears. Appearing in a total of 5 contests, Bowers accumulated 39 offensive snaps, but never saw a target. He'll work to carve out a bigger role with the Raiders in 2022.
Inks new deal
Mon, Apr 11, 2022, 7:30 PM
Teamer signed a one-year contract with the Raiders on Monday.
Analysis: Teamer played a significant role down the stretch for the Raiders after Johnathan Abram's suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. Teamer played 100 percent of the snaps in the Raiders' final three contests and appeared in a total of 10 games, recording 18 tackles (13 solo) and one pass defensed on the year. He'll work to provide depth in the Raiders' secondary in their upcoming season.
Finds new home
Mon, Apr 11, 2022, 7:20 PM
Bower signed a deal with the Raiders on Monday,
Analysis: Bower spent time with the Vikings and Patriots last season, appearing in a total of 6 games. The 27-year-old recorded four tackles (two solo) and one sacks across 63 defensive snaps. Bower will work to earn a rotational role on the Raiders' defensive line in 2022.
Re-ups with Raiders
Tue, Apr 5, 2022, 10:14 AM
Hankins re-signed with Las Vegas on Monday.
Analysis: Hankins will return for a third straight season with the Raiders. Across 14 appearances in 2021, Hankins racked up 38 tackles and one pass breakup. At this point, the veteran doesn't boast much fantasy upside in IDP formats.
